I'm having trouble getting any decent low-end shader pack to work with Minecraft without affecting performance. My game runs around 30fps, while the ideal is closer to 150fps at a render distance of 20. I know Minecraft Java Edition isn't optimized and shaders are known to cause drops. I'm sure my system and drivers are up to date, but it's still an issue. The hardware specs are: Windows 10, i7-7700k, 1080 ti, running on a Samsung M.2 SSD.
What version of Minecraft are you requiring the shaders for, and do you have Optifine set up? I'll check and let you know.
I would definitely lower the render distance from 20 to a more practical range of 14 to 16. Are you playing standard vanilla Minecraft as well, or do you have any additional mods beyond Optifine installed?
Thanks for the updates. I'm using the latest version, 1.14.4, and have tried various shaders but still face performance issues. I understand that Optifine is required to run shaders. To confirm, yes, I am installing Optifine. I also lowered the render distance yesterday to 16 units because I don’t want it to drop further, as a reasonable distance helps me see the game properly during exploration. I only have Optifine installed for this version, and everything else is standard. I’ll look into these changes and reply later. Thanks!
I am working with Sildur's medium and after tweaking the shader parameters slightly, I can achieve 35-40 fps in the overworld; around 120 in various areas of the Nether. This remains unsatisfactory because the 35-40 fps drops to just 15 every bit and causes noticeable stuttering, which is unacceptable. A vanilla Minecraft with minor improvements should be able to maintain a steady 60fps, despite Java's poor performance. BSL is not usable, consistently delivering 25-35fps in the overworld even at lower settings. I previously experimented with CUDA shaders and planned to test their updated LUMA shaders, but the outcome matches BSL.
Should I be doing this now? I've tried before, but I've run into issues.
I've experienced improved results with the java executable on my machine compared to the one included with Minecraft. Ensure you're using the 64-bit version if you alter it.

For your reference, the JVM settings I'm currently using are as follows. With SEUS v11 shaders, I maintain around 70+ fps on an i7 8700/gtx 1070.
