Valve might choose not to release Half-Life 3.
The excitement will always last... unless GabeN publicly declares "NO! We won't release HL3!"
Read this. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/19/g...alf-life-3 He says himself that after all they've learned about developing and releasing games, it doesn't really make sense to do Half-Life, at least in its classic fashion. He also says, and I quote: "W e'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean." Basically saying that it's coming, but at the current moment it definitely isn't a priority over at Valve. It is made clear that nobody is really working on it right now. I highly doubt the game will come out soon, if at all . The only thing that is known to exist is concept art, and Gabe has already told us that there isn't really anyone working on it unless they have a good reason to do so. As a businessman, it's genius to use the endless HL3 hype to the companies advantage, and it makes a lot of sense to allocate any resources possible to the cash cows that are the exploding CSGO and Dota 2 scenes. As a fan though, I'm compelled to write "hl3 confirmed" on any math problem with an answer of 3
Most folks making this argument don’t realize how many people just want the story to wrap up. I’m not concerned about a polished release that looks identical to HL2; what matters is progressing the narrative. As long as it doesn’t end poorly—like in my experience with ME 3—I’m okay. Still, I don’t grasp why anyone thought the original or edited ending for ME 3 was worthwhile. After realizing that early decisions in the first two games didn’t really matter, it felt like someone mocking me with a superficial conclusion similar to the Matrix trilogy.
Even if it were a trustworthy source, who would believe HL3 would ever exist? The excitement is entertaining, but it’s becoming too much. Half-Life 3 hasn’t released yet, so you shouldn’t be upset it’s not here.
