HTC has already mentioned they're integrating Half-Life into their upcoming VR technology. Whether it's Half-Life 3 or not, the timing is hard to predict. Picture a big launch of both Half-Life 3 and VR gear—this could really shake up the Oculus Rift and other headsets in development. If it wasn't fully compatible or had restricted access, things would change a lot. In any case, it's all guesswork. I'd only think about a VR headset if it was essential for Half-Life 3.
