Attempted to enjoy Valorant for the first time, only to discover the developers have disabled all support for ultra-wide displays. That means a 21:9 screen would show huge black bars across the sides—really frustrating.

Overwatch also offers something similar. The idea is it gives a performance edge, but it’s pointless since they don’t limit high refresh displays or quicker keyboards. It’s really annoying.

Well then, why not go with an 8-bit format instead? It’s not as if everyone has the budget for something like 1080p, right?

It seems like you're weighing options and might prefer certain games more than others. Let me know if you'd like help deciding!

If this applies, maintaining the same field of view on all monitors makes sense. That way, performance stays consistent rather than stretching excessively in ultra-wide formats. It’s not about gaining an edge but ensuring reliability across devices.

The development team avoids addressing inquiries about it, despite high-refresh-rate displays being shown as beneficial for gaming. That’s why I didn’t go ahead with the ultra-wide purchase.
