Valorant Fps
Looking into whether a powerful CPU really boosts FPS in Valorant. I have a 2080S R5 with 3600 MHz RAM and 16GB, running at low settings, getting about 200-300 FPS sometimes stable, dropping to 170. Thinking an 8-core processor might help reach around 300 FPS like streamers. Anyone have experience or advice?
I'm not complaining, just having a feeling I might not be performing well enough.
Which panel are you referring to? 240Hz or 300Hz? Those FPS values are definitely solid.
the results stay consistent, games won't expand to 8 cores, output will be alike or less.
Sure, it can feel confusing at first. Your friend has a powerful setup with a 1080 Ti and i9 9900K, which should give him better performance. Even though his CPU has 8 cores compared to your 6, modern games often prioritize GPU power for visuals. It might not be the main factor in Valorant, but it’s worth considering if you want top results.
i wouldn't stress too much unless it stays above your refresh rate. With higher FPS, you'll see less input lag thanks to more updates, but jumping from 170fps (about 5.9ms per frame) to 240fps (around 4.2ms per frame) only cuts the delay by a few milliseconds. I’m not sure if Valorant can run smoothly on many more cores than the 3600 available—it might help a bit, but probably not enough if you're chasing the absolute highest FPS. Intel still performs better at top speeds, though the gap is so small it’s hard to say for sure.
The 9900K shines for single-threaded jobs. The 3600 introduces more delay because of its 2 nanoseconds and interconnect, whereas the 9900K uses one CCD/CCX with lower latency. While speed isn't the sole factor, the 9900K still delivers better performance and reduced wait times.
