Hello everyone, I’m really seeking your assistance! Here’s a summary of what’s happening: My computer is behaving strangely. With Windows 10 Pro (version 22H2), a Ryzen 9 3900x, and the AsRock B450 motherboard, I have 16GB DDR4 memory at 2133 MHz. The PSU is an EVGA 750w, and I’m using a mix of M.2 and SATA storage—specifically two 2TB drives and an SSD.
When I connect all SATA devices, the system won’t boot. Removing them leaves only the M.2 slot working, which boots normally. I can’t access BIOS, fast boot isn’t enabled, and using Windows Recovery to restart in UEFI doesn’t help. I tried changing boot priorities, but that didn’t resolve the issue. Initially, only the SSD caused problems; once it worked, everything functioned. Performance remains unchanged.
I’ve tried switching ports, replacing cables, forcing a restart, and even testing different drives. It seems the problem started suddenly and is now affecting all SATA connections. I’m worried something might be damaged, but I don’t want to risk further damage since the machine is already broken. If anyone has any ideas or solutions, I’d really appreciate it! You seem to be having trouble accessing the BIOS. Have you attempted to reset the CMOS battery? It might help if you try that before checking other components on your motherboard.
Remove storage, power on via BIOS, connect SATA drives directly to verify recognition. Refer to your manual for details: Storage includes four 6.0 Gb/s SATA3 connectors, compatible with RAID configurations (RAID 0, 1, 10), NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug. Two additional SATA3 connectors by ASMedia ASM1061 support the same protocols and lane sharing. If any are occupied, others will be disabled.
