Utilizing mobile data instead of broadband.
Utilizing mobile data instead of broadband.
I've compared two mobile plans: one offering 500 GB for about 20 euros, and another with 1000 GB for roughly 35 euros. I'm not sure data speed will be a big problem, but I haven't tried it yet. Since I live alone, the usage would be entirely mine.
The plan is to determine how to use this connection. Although Denmark offers strong 4G coverage nearly everywhere, delays remain an issue for competitive gaming. I recently experienced unstable internet and moved to my phone as a hotspot. While speed was acceptable, ping consistently exceeded 100ms, rendering competitive play unfeasible.
-> Moved to Networking *** I'm currently working in another town, some 1.5h away from my main PC. I'm using 4G mobile hotspot as writing this. In 2 weeks I've used 55Gb of data. This is mainly Youtube, forums and some mobile gaming on my tablet. My laptop isn't really gonna go for any online games, but I've used almost this same connection to stream 720p30 at 3000kbps. I'm personally bit iffy using 4G for online gaming. Haven't tested it, but in normal use there's always higher change that it will drop one notch down to HSPA+ or even to 3G. Have campaign deal on the hotspot and my main phone plan as they are same plan. €27/mo total.
Mobile broadband performs well depending on your location. Finland offers excellent service for things like streaming and gaming, especially when traveling long distances. We recently returned from about 500km away and experienced only 19ms latency, around 50Mbps download and 33Mbps upload speeds. Services such as Steam Remote Play and GeForce Now worked fine. Data caps aren’t common here; instead, providers usually cap bandwidth, so plans like unlimited data with high-speed limits are standard. In short, relocating to Finland would make you much more comfortable.
Are you talking about a mobile data plan for a router? You're considering using your phone as a hotspot, since a subscription for a router would be more expensive than cable. Those speeds are really fast. Do these speeds work well in bigger cities, on the road, or in rural spots? Also, just a note—I'd rather never use Wi-Fi again than try to learn Finnish.
