WiFi performance is weak because of a solid wall blocking the signal. Running new cabling isn't safe for your dad, who is prone to falls. Repeaters fail after extended use, especially when working from home. Your house dates back to the 80s/90s and already has coax cables in different rooms. You can connect via coax by using existing channels and figuring out which ones serve each area.

MoCA testing each component separately using a coax tester. It isn't the most enjoyable process, yet it typically doesn't require much time. Remember to label items as you proceed.

MoCA adapters cost around $100 per pair and deliver strong performance. An option is to repurpose a coaxial cable as a fishing line for a Cat6 cable and set up access points. Ubiquiti devices are expensive but offer excellent speed.
