My sixth form college has given students a free access to Office 365 ProPlus. This should continue until around July. I'm weighing whether it's worth it since the alternative is Google Office. The issue is that after college I might have to pay for 365, while Google Office will stay free. I don't believe it's worth my time to adapt to 365 and then switch to Google. So, I'm asking myself if I should stick with 365 forever or keep using Google Office permanently. Right now I'm using Office 2011 alongside some Google apps like Google Drive.

365 offers a wide range of features beyond what Google’s office suite provides. I recommend considering it. Their services are free, and if they meet all your requirements, there’s no need to choose another option.

It’s convenient when it’s available for free—why not use it right away? Also, switching to Google later won’t disrupt your work since your files remain functional through existing services.

Office 365 offers OneNote, a top-notch note-taking tool ideal for students. It works well with devices that support digitizing pens, yet remains effective on keyboard users. The interface is straightforward yet powerful when you master its features. With the included 1TB OneDrive, you can view and edit files online, share them easily, and maintain clean formatting—unlike some other services such as Google Drive, which can distort layouts. The document editor performs exceptionally, especially for complex designs in Word. It also remains stable with future updates, unlike some platforms. PowerPoint stands out for its robust capabilities, now GPU-accelerated and supporting wide screens. If you craft presentations rather than just copying notes, it shines—Intel graphics support ensures smooth performance even on older hardware. Additionally, connecting your laptop or tablet to a classroom projector enables dual-screen presentations: your laptop displays slides while the projector shows the current one, enhancing clarity and engagement. In fact, your storage capacity has been upgraded to unlimited. Previously it was just 1 TB, now it's fully available.

The system allows around 20,000 files and folders, which should work for home use. For businesses with several users, this becomes an issue. File names and paths are limited to about 200 characters. Most people have experienced this in professional settings, but it’s still worth mentioning.
