Utilize an old router as a Wi-Fi repeater.
I'm just getting started with Netowrking and sorry if I'm moving slowly. I need to set up my old router (Technicolor C1100T) as a Wi-Fi repeater because the signal downstairs is really weak. The menu options are confusing me, but any guidance would be super helpful. Thanks! Potato
It seems your router is set up for bridge mode, yet I’m unsure about its repeater capabilities.
It looks like you're pointing out that this situation seems more related to IT rather than a SOHO setup.
Turn off DHCP, link to Ethernet network via standard ports, establish a new WiFi hotspot at the router's location.
I’d rather avoid running a CAT5 cable up the stairs and instead consider a repeater. If that doesn’t work, I’ll go with a wireless solution.
