The receiver isn't handling 4k@120hz, despite claims of HDMI 2.1 support. Many early models used the same problematic chipset, limiting them to 4k60. I've managed by connecting the TV directly via HDMI for video and a separate cable for audio. My PC, running a 3080 Ti, tries to treat the receiver as an extra display, which causes audio issues when I switch inputs. Removing the HDMI cable between TV and receiver didn't help, and I found a Windows setting that ignores the second display but also blocks audio. I'm searching for a setting to recognize the GPU's HDMI port as audio-only, so I won't have hidden displays. The simplest fix would be purchasing a receiver that supports full HDMI 2.1 passthrough, but I'm hesitant to spend over $1k.
Use the press buttons + P to duplicate items, allowing them to be sent to both outputs. Other settings might vary based on the TV model and support for eARC.
I'm frustrated I missed that idea but really appreciate the assistance! The fix is simple and everything is now running smoothly. This was my first PC build and the first real machine I've had, so this was the final project I couldn't get set up for. Thanks once more!
Unexpected update. I hadn't noticed this before since I was concentrating on audio and the phantom display, but duplicating the screen caps me at 60 Hz. Likely because that's the max my receiver can handle at 4K. I switched the primary display settings and it didn't help, so I'm back to where I began.
