In the coming weeks I’ll switch from a service provided by another company to one where I manage my own internet connection. I’ll be using AT&T for the service (limited choices). The apartment I’m moving into already has AT&T internet, but the included router/modem is outdated and lacks both features and quality. I bought a Netgear RX500 after watching a tutorial video, hoping to maximize its potential. My main concerns are configuring it properly alongside the AT&T modem/router, ensuring I use the AT&T gateway for their network, and avoiding any interference with DumaOS on the RX500. I’ve looked up advice suggesting turning off the AT&T Wi-Fi and connecting directly to my router, or setting up an advanced DMZ zone and bridge mode. The information seems mixed, so I want to make sure I get the full benefits of DumaOS without speed drops or weird address problems. Appreciate your guidance!

My suggestion is to avoid Netgear products. I changed to Frontier Fiber a while back and upgraded my router from a Netgear AC1900 to an Asus RT-AC3100. The new setup impresses with its capabilities, especially since I’m on fiber with no limitations. I can’t endorse it if those features don’t work well. I’m sure disabling Wi-Fi on the AT&T plan and using a router will function as long as it supports it. Is AT&T the only choice? If yes, I wouldn’t bother trying to get high-speed internet. Even if they deliver, the gear can’t sustain speeds above 20Mbps without frequent restarts or factory resets. Personally, you’d be better off with an unlimited data plan and a hotspot instead of dealing with any company that imposes restrictions.
