I'm curious if anyone else has this problem—it feels like a heated debate. Why does Microsoft get so worked up about VPN usage? Every time I connect to PIA in DC through auto-connect, all my Microsoft services stop working and even get unregistered because they block VPNs. It's odd since it seems like the real reason should be about access to their services, not where you're connected. Still, Windows updates seem fine, as if this is just a localized issue for their content networks like the Microsoft Store, OneDrive, and Office. What do you think? Would Bill Gates care if I type my essay online or offline?

I've consistently relied on a VPN on Windows 10 without encountering any of the problems mentioned. It seems the networking components on your system might be the cause.

This appears to be an issue caused by user mistake or misinterpretation. When logged into a service and you switch IP addresses via a VPN, the token becomes invalid for the new location. Windows updates function without needing login credentials.

This appears to be a setup problem. I haven't encountered anything comparable from anyone, including myself, while using VPNs.

They also offer VPN applications in their shop, which seems contradictory to blocking them. According to Microsoft, the issue likely lies with your configuration or the VPN service itself, so you should reach out to them for assistance. What information did your VPN service provide regarding this matter?

Your VPN is preventing access to certain Microsoft servers. This is straightforward. When your network appears offline after connecting to the VPN, it usually means the VPN is stopping Windows from reaching Microsoft servers to verify internet availability.

Fun to hear! You're using PIA and haven't encountered any problems.
