I might need to spend a few hours on the forum, and if I don’t get anything, I’ll reach out. Appreciate your assistance, wizard.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Useterms...nglish.htm Oh lol looks like I'm wrong. If you want to host a server you have to use Windows Server. Windows 10 doesn't let you host servers. Not that that REALLY matters, though. If you're worried about audits you should pretty much just use Linux, or buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of CALs + Windows Server licensing.

I spoke with Microsoft three times regarding this problem. After being treated like a toy all three times, I finally received a response—but it’s not favorable. From the multiple conversations, they stated that Windows 10 Home, Pro, and Workstation aren’t permitted for certain actions. They specifically mentioned restrictions on SMB sharing, Hyper-V, workgroup limitations, and more. Even simple tasks like running a basic controller program or hosting a camera server are off-limits. They warned against creating programs that interact with other software in ways that simulate server operation. Additionally, they said you can’t purchase Calcalif if you’re using SMB on Windows 10 to let users access it; you must buy the server software instead. It’s clear this isn’t something for casual users—it’s designed for business environments. For someone like me who doesn’t have a budget, these options are costly and unnecessary.

It doesn't really matter where you do it. No inspections are happening there. I run things on my own setup all the time. They're after that big paycheck from companies, though. I bet enterprise and bulk licensing make up most of Microsoft's earnings.
