I couldn't find any contradiction there. 2.5GbE does support those speeds, and adding another gigabit would definitely improve performance. A dedicated IPMI network is useful for multiple servers, but you can still manage them efficiently with VLANs on a single port. The question really comes down to your specific setup and needs.
It makes sense why the ITX board I used for my NAS had two Gigabit connections—they likely envisioned a NAS setup since 2.5Gbit wasn’t available yet, so they probably thought about bonding or teaming. I bet some gaming boards could have both, maybe Killer with Realtek chips. Of course, I can't locate one right now, which feels like it might be something I imagined. Still, it would definitely make a powerful pfSense device.
