You're considering upgrading your HTC VIVE setup. Since you already have other gear, you might be able to purchase just the headset. Alternatively, you could explore upscaling options for your existing GTX 1080TI to improve performance.

The live stream is $800 for the headset alone. No controllers, no base stations, nothing else included. I’d prefer the standard Vive until the price drops. It doesn’t seem worth $800.

Check if HTC accepts trades for a few hundred points.

Supersampling offers limited improvement. The difference in quality is mainly due to hardware constraints. I’d likely choose it if I could afford 2 to 3 months of expenses. Otherwise, I’d hold off until a better deal appears.

Right now, the best option to get the PRO is through the upgrade form that just buys the headset, but it costs 800 BUCKS. Save some money now and wait for HTC to lower the price. Once it drops to about half, consider upgrading. Super sampling helps with clarity, but the main issue is still the screen resolution—only higher resolution will really make a difference.

I’m considering purchasing the Pro, but my usage of the Vive isn’t high enough to warrant $800. I’d appreciate a reliable review from someone else. If the improved resolution meets expectations, I might use it more often.

Vive Pro Starter Kit US$1099 comes with controllers and a base station. This setup seems better than just a headset, allowing you to maintain existing configurations for future use or resale while transitioning to the Pro version.

They don't really get much better performance beyond around 300 to 400 on a good day. The main reason for the price jump is just what you'd get by selling your existing gear.

The Samsung Odyssey offers a superior experience versus the original Vive while being significantly more affordable. You'd also gain access to two full VR configurations.

Another fresh addition was introduced, though it didn't receive the same focus as the vive pro. This feature isn't present anywhere on their platform. Its look is completely distinct from both the vive and the pro versions. Updated: discovered it.
