Using Linux on a Chromebook paired with a Tegra K1 is possible.
I recently acquired a rare chromebook with a Tegra K1. If possible, I’d like to dual boot Linux, though it seems quite challenging. The nearest device Nvidia supports is the Jetson TK 1. Any guidance on installing Linux on this machine would be invaluable!
You might want to skip dual boot unless you're willing to invest time in transferring multiROM to your gadget. ARM-based systems like yours can't handle BIOS selection and will only start from a particular partition created in a certain way. Using GNU/Linux inside ChromeOS is feasible instead. Follow this guide.
The machine is already in use and shows signs of wear. I’m now setting up a fresh display because the old one is broken. Right now, I need a system that can run a standard Linux desktop, but I’m not sure how to install Ubuntu on the Jetson TK1 dev kit myself.
Did you get it wrong? L4T refers only to the drivers, and Linux should still install on its own.
You can skip doing anything on that unless you install Windows 10. It’s not Microsoft, it’s a real person using Windows 10 as their OS. It’s the best and very user-friendly.
