I acknowledge my limited knowledge about RAM speeds. Earlier this season I purchased a Legion T5-26AMR5 - Type 90RC thinking upgrades would be straightforward. Switching to a 5900X was manageable, yet I also bought two sets of 16GB 3600MHz Kingston Fury Renegade RAM. I didn’t expect to overclock anytime soon, but I thought running it at 3200MHz would be easy, given the existing Samsung 8GB DDR4 3200MHz sticks. After powering on the system, I noticed the RAM was clocked at 2400MHz. Checking support forums showed T5 models don’t support XMP settings, so I couldn’t adjust the speed in BIOS. Is there a way to run this RAM at 3200MHz? If not, what alternatives should I consider? How can I determine the default speed and whether the 3200MHz Renegade would work?
You're referring to XMP support and manual RAM speed adjustment as distinct features. Are you certain you can't change the RAM speed settings yourself?
You attempted to install new RAM without the previous ones. It’s unlikely you’ll get smooth performance with both 3200 and 3600 DIMMS together. Your motherboard is quite restricted in BIOS settings, but XMP should be active since the older module ran at 3200 instead of the default 2133. If XMP were off, it would have worked.
The name AMD Ryzen XMP doesn't actually mean XMP—it refers to DOCP, a different naming convention.
I checked the BIOS and looked for RAM speed options, but they weren’t obvious. The main screen shows system info, time, language, and a mode switch. Advanced settings only include CPU adjustments, which I didn’t find. It seems my listed specs might not have been accurate.
When standard options aren't available, the best choice seems to be swapping in a different RAM module with a 3200 MHz clock speed in SPD mode.
