I bought my second motherboard after the first one failed immediately. This model stops any SATA drive from connecting once plugged in. I tested it on another system and it worked perfectly, but when connected via SATA cable and powered back up, the drive was disabled. It doesn’t function on any setup. The ASUS Tuf X570 PLUS Wi-Fi version is what I have. I’m reaching out to see if others faced similar issues. There are some online reports of problems with this board. Proceed with caution—this one could be problematic. Any suggestions for another X570 model?

The additional details aren't listed here. SATA isn't providing power, which might indicate the PSU is malfunctioning.

The ASUS x570 Tuf Plus wifi Thermotake Smart Pro B650W AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Corsair 64 Gig Vegence DDR4 3000 Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 with HeatSink 500 GB usually runs without extra voltage, but I think there might be an issue with the SATA circuit on the motherboard, damaging the card's electronics.

SATA data shouldn't transmit power, but attaching a multimeter to a SATA cable reveals conductivity. If traces on the motherboard have shorts allowing 12V leakage, it could damage drive I/O. Such a situation is possible, though unlikely. My advice is to use a multimeter to inspect the SATA port and, if needed, return the board via RMA.

The scorch marks appear on the power pins. It's unclear if the data cable or motherboard is responsible for this issue.

I found it amusing too. I attempted yet another connection, simply connected the power cable, switched off the device, and suddenly the hard drive failed. Possibly the power supply unit is to blame. Five drives are down now...

Others mentioned that the SATA port lacks actual strength. It seems the real source is the power supply unit. I'm using the same motherboard without any problems.

The PSU was provided by a friend, and I checked the part number on the cables—it’s Corsair. I’ve seen articles suggesting the cables might be the issue. If you own the Thermotake SmartPro 650W PSU, could you share any details or images of the SATA cables included?

Always keep power cables separate from those not meant for that voltage source. The connections might differ at the PSU link.
