The PCIe Asus AC-55BT (Intel 8260 NGW) is showing an Unknown USB Device error for Bluetooth. Wi-Fi functions correctly. It connects via a USB2-to-USB2 cable, but cleaning the contacts with alcohol didn’t fix it. The issue appears after a system restart. All Intel drivers are installed. It seems the Bluetooth component of the Wi-Fi card might be failing or dead. The card was purchased in 2019, and Bluetooth has previously been unreliable. Removing the cable was done to avoid further damage to the onboard USB headers.

With these cards, removing the mystery gadget isn't possible without the USB cable since the cable also supplies Bluetooth. As for whether it's dead, it might be.
