I just changed my motherboard and processor to an ASUS Prime Z390-P and an i9 9900K. After installation, I can’t post to BIOS and most of the yellow LEDs on the motherboard are blinking. I know the BIOS needs an update for this CPU model, as the PC part picker warned me. I’m looking for a way to flash the BIOS using a USB drive without needing a new CPU or going to a shop, since I don’t have the budget. Do you have any method for updating the BIOS on this specific motherboard that works without a physical CPU? I also have a laptop that can format updates from USB, but I’m not sure if this model supports flashing via USB unless I have access to the BIOS.
The ASUS Z390-P lacks the USB BIOS Flashback capability, meaning updates require a compatible CPU—such as an 8th Gen processor (e.g., Pentium)—which is necessary for headless BIOS updates. Have you verified this by checking your motherboard’s beep codes? If not, connect a beep code speaker to confirm the issue.
