The update process depends on your BIOS setup. If you're using a BIOS update without a USB BIOS flashback, you typically don't need the ASUS Renamer. You can download the .cad file directly and install it through the standard BIOS tools.
I’d change the name as well. It will be saved in the BIOS after startup and need a concise title there. You can alter the file name yourself. Make sure to reset everything to the factory settings, or simply keep the battery unused for ten minutes before trying it again.
Wow thanks for the quick reply and information. This is a new build nothing changed in bios only tested fan curves. Could I just flash it like this without taking battery out or resetting to defaults? Is there some asus renamer guide for rookies so I dont mess up the renaming, will google it.
After a flash, always reset to the default settings, since there are changes that need to be applied. I've noticed BIOS can lock up completely if it isn't reset properly. It's something you really should do. Running a new BIOS reset to factory settings helps avoid issues caused by settings that might crash the system. BIOS generally follows an old DOS naming convention. If you don’t rename it, it may appear as something like "asustuf~" or similar, which can lead to problems.
