But it's frustrating. A lot of changes were made. Like the old menus and the tab for the next step in setup. Can't turn off updates. The interface is inconsistent. Settings and the control panel don't match.

The upgrade went from Windows 10 to Windows 9 due to issues with the bootloader, which didn’t communicate properly. I ended up using the 10 UI while running the 8.1 backend, and all software with different backends for those versions became inconsistent.

For Windows, I'm keeping it on Windows 7 or 2008 R2 until I can't use it, then moving to Linux if possible, or switching to a Mac.

You're clearly familiar with the WinxPix characters, aren't you? I'm sure I'll be ready on Linux tomorrow, but until it stops failing me, this remains just a fantasy.

Agreed. I appreciate it and won't alter anything.

Do you believe your i5 4690k with built-in graphics is sufficient? You mentioned you have just one dedicated GPU and didn’t include your motherboard in the list. That suggests PCIe might not be necessary for your setup. It’s also noted that your system uses a GB Z97P-D3 chipset.

GPU passtrogh received an "advanced" rating due to its complexity, requiring precise hardware for proper execution.

I’m setting up W10 on the smallest HDD and checked the UEFI settings. I can turn off each SATA port if needed. Skipping the Linux partition mount should resolve any issues.

Windows only spotted the USB and the desired HDD. Added drivers and figured out I missed a file on my Linux home drive. Restarted and turned all SATA ports on, selected the SSD as boot option. Ugh! Windows kept overwriting my SSD’s boot area. Created an arch live ISO on my USB to reinstall Syslinux from my laptop. How tough is it to spot another OS already set up? Updated on Jan 7, 2017 by XZillA syslinux, not grub.
