I checked the Dutch Ebay listings and found a seller offering a 6700k processor. I noticed discoloration on the back of the CPU, which seemed like burn marks. He also had a Z390 motherboard available. After asking him, it turned out he had tried both together. I’m curious about the impact this might have on the CPU and motherboard—could it lead to more burn marks? Just a heads-up, I’m not planning to buy it, but I’m interested in how he did it.

I understand your concern about compatibility. I'm checking whether my assumption is right and looking into why it might burn—specifically, the pin layout. I've also requested a picture of the MMO pins to review. I'll keep following up.

Someone likely used the 8700k on Z270 boards, meaning both connectors share a similar pin configuration. It’s a software restriction, though a few reserved pins might have been unlocked for other uses. Running a 9900k on a Z170/270 board could cause overheating, but not vice versa. It might help to ask the person about how they achieved those results? Corrosion could also be a factor.
