I attempted to create a repair disc using Windows 7 but ended up being prompted to boot from CD/DVD. The system began displaying error dots before restarting again. I’m really struggling to get my computer working. It’s been the worst week ever. EDIT: I’m now downloading Windows 8 just in case it helps as a recovery drive. Would that work?

You have an empty disc ready and a 32GB USB drive connected.

In Windows 7, selecting the option to create a repair disc will write the repair tools onto a blank DVD. For Windows 8, you don’t require a repair disc—press F8 during startup and enter the "Repair your computer" mode. If you have your original Windows 7 or 8 disc, you can also use it for repairs.

I discovered I can't start from a DVD because it won't accept it, but it still launches from my hard drive. I plan to apply some fixes tomorrow.

This Windows 8 repair disc works on Windows 7, though I'm not entirely certain.
