My laptop ran Windows 10 which slowed it down because of a slow processor. Earlier I had set up Windows 7 without much trouble. This time I did the same, but now my USB ports, SD card slot, LAN port, and Wi-Fi aren’t working. It lacks a CD/DVD drive, and the only way to reinstall Windows 7 is by downloading a USB 3.0 driver to access the installation screen. Unfortunately, it doesn’t recognize any USB devices, so I can’t find drivers. I’m not sure what to do next. Any advice would be really helpful.

Find a method to activate the USB 3.0 driver so it keeps running the install process. Avoid relying on manual file copying, as that won’t work effectively.

A new Windows update should contain everything necessary.

What laptop model are you using? I experienced similar problems with drivers for your old Renesas USB 3.0 controller and am trying to resolve them now. Which component is causing the issue? Have you completed the setup and are you seeing the Windows interface, or is the process failing? If this reminds me of a prior case, I might be prompted again to locate the downloads.

The optimal approach is to detach the HDD/SSD from your laptop, transfer it to a desktop, and run Windows 7. Once installed, obtain USB drivers and place them on your desktop. After that, reinstall the hard drive onto the laptop. This aids the setup process but may still cause issues with USB drivers. Upon first booting the laptop, allow automatic device installation. For laptops, the keyboard and touchpad should function correctly afterward, enabling driver updates. You might also clone a friend’s Windows 7 with matching license code, restart, and wait for driver installation. Finally, update the license code (serial number) as needed.

It kept requesting access to browse for installation files. Once found, none of the USB ports functioned. With an SD card reader, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or any data transfer method, it was difficult. The only workaround I managed was taking out the hard drive, connecting it to another laptop, and using the external HDD to install the downloaded drivers.
