I possess a solid-state drive from Seagate, 4 terabytes. I previously used it as a boot source for Windows 11 but later moved to an NVMe SSD. Now I aim to utilize the drive for general storage. I placed it in a protective case and connected it. Yet, Windows doesn't recognize the entire drive or its partitions. My goal is to restore full access so the entire 4TB becomes available again. Instead, I'm unable to locate the old partitions in Disk Management—only the space outside the C partition appears usable. The drive no longer shows a total of 4TB. I've looked for solutions but found nothing effective. I attempted Diskpart and performed a clean operation on that disk, yet the full capacity remains inaccessible. The device logs mention a migration issue because of a partial or unclear device match. I suspect the hidden OS partition from the previous system might be the same one migrated, so I tried the drive on another machine, but the problem persists there too.

It means the full 4 terabytes isn't visible or accessible. This is typical.

This isn't the complete set of 4tb.

Consider linking it straight to your motherboard via a SATA cable rather than using an enclosure.

Using an MBR partition table limits your drive capacity to 2 TB. Your case might not accommodate drives larger than that size. Connect the drive straight to your motherboard via a SATA cable, then reset it with a GPT partition table.

It's already configured as GPT. I attempted to convert to MBR and double-checked to GPT, but the result was insufficient—showing around 1.6tb instead of the expected 2tb.

I used an older hard drive of the same capacity but unused as an OS disk inside the USB case, and it functioned properly. I’m unsure why the previous one failed—maybe because it ran Windows 11? For now, I’ll skip that drive until I get a replacement. Thanks for your assistance @Needfuldoer and @Poinkachu

Hey, your comments didn't quite align with what I heard. My findings so far cover everything from Needfuldoer discussions to being incorrectly labeled as a RAID drive by Windows or chipset. There seems to be some issues with the drive itself.

Certainly, thank you for your feedback. The effort is still valued.
