I'm going to upgrade all my PC parts excluding the storage soon, and I was just wondering if there's a good way I can guarantee that I won't get the annoying "Activate Windows" I've seen happen to some people after an upgrade.

Connect your Microsoft account during installation (it might already be linked). After upgrading, use this account to maintain your Windows license. If you're reinstalling Windows, log in again with the same account if you're not replacing the OS; it will prompt "Did you change hardware?" and you'll confirm.

On your present PC: Settings > Update & Security > Activation. If your Microsoft account is connected, it should display "Activation: Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account." On the new PC: If you haven’t reinstalled Windows, go to the same location and verify the status. If you’re reinstalling, during setup it will request your Microsoft account, ask if you changed hardware, and then you can revisit that section.
