Hey there! For a game like Cod with DLSS, many recommend sticking to balanced settings. Your setup looks solid—balanced works well for most games, but 4K adds extra demand. Your friend’s advice about balance fitting better in 4K makes sense since the display is already decent. Just keep an eye on performance and adjust if needed.
DLSS Off would be perfect, though quality is a priority. Remove it to achieve the performance you need.
I usually save most items by default here, since I don’t see a clear difference from native. I really liked the performance improvement it provided.
It generally works well for most tasks, though there are times when more is needed in Valheim as well. With the Oled display I’ve noticed edges can appear slightly less sharp, particularly when moving around. My previous monitor was so blurry that it didn’t really matter. The ultrawide HKC paired with a Samsung panel offers 100Hz IPS for better clarity.
Fun fact—I tested 4K quality on my ultrawide 3440x1440 screen. On the 4K OLED it worked well; balanced at 4K actually shows a higher native resolution than 1440p quality. I changed back to quality on the 4090 mainly because it doesn’t require as much adjustment, unlike the 3080 where settings matter more.
I didn't find the slightly softer edges appealing (4k should be very sharp for me). Being just three feet away from my screen while gaming might be a matter of personal taste. I'm also fortunate enough to notice the rainbow effect poorly on some displays, so we might not share the same visual experience. That said, my OLED doesn't necessarily show a rainbow effect, and my eyes and brain could interpret motion differently than others. My close-up vision is also marginally sharper than 20/20. Everyone will have varying comfort levels with different settings.
