Hi all,
I'm really struggling with this and haven't found a clear answer through online searches.
The situation is: my GFs kid watched a movie with a friend using Discord, but the friend was watching via webcam. I'm trying to get a better setup for them.
I have a capture card (EVGA XR1) that can be connected to OBS and used as a virtual webcam in Discord—video works fine.
The main hurdle is audio. I can't figure out how to send both the media audio and his microphone into the stream for Discord.
I have some basic experience with OBS and Discord, but I'm not sure how to proceed.
Do anyone have suggestions or alternative solutions?
The feature should include a screen-sharing option within Discord that also handles audio. If needed, verify OBS's video settings to ensure it isn't muted or causing issues.
Hi Barty,
I haven’t delved into this much and might be mistaken, but from what I’ve read, you’ll need two input devices—a standard sound card and possibly an external USB sound card. You can then use a program like VoiceMeeter to merge the inputs into one virtual device for other software.
The screenshot on their homepage illustrates three audio inputs being combined into a single virtual output that works with other programs.
As I mentioned, I haven’t explored this topic deeply and likely can’t answer further questions. I haven’t tried it myself. Still, I hope it gives you some ideas.

In case someone finds this, I managed to find a workaround that functions... It's not perfect, but it does.
Connect the capture card to OBS and monitor output only.
Share the app on Discord (not your screen), and it appears to be available only through the app, not the browser.
In OBS, switch to full screen with your video, and audio streams from the app to Discord while your regular microphone stays connected to Discord—no duplicating or virtual splitters needed.
From what I understand, it should also work in VLC, though I encountered errors. YMMV.
