It appeared straightforward, yet I’m struggling to get it to function. On Linux, SimpleScreen Recorder works well with h.264 and flac at 60fps. On Windows, no matter which tool I use, the available codecs result in very large files. I only manage around 14fps and the output seems to use just a limited color palette. It probably helps to switch to a different codec, such as the one at http://www.videolan.org/developers/x264.html. I’d appreciate some guidance on how to set this up, especially for programs like Camstudio.

The simple screen recorder captures the display. When the game runs in fullscreen, it isn't treated as part of your desktop and won't be recorded. Use OBS instead.

The feature to save recordings locally is the correct choice. 'Nuff said'
