Hello, I purchased an HP dw3052ne for my university work. To preserve the battery's health, I want to avoid using it while connected to the wall. I’m wondering if there’s a software method to disable the battery connection when needed, or should I reset it through the BIOS? Any advice would be appreciated.

Turning off your battery isn't ideal for its health. Look for an option in HP's software to cap the charge at around 60%. You can find this in your system settings or BIOS.

this story dates back so far it appears in ancient cave art. just keep your device running, and you're likely to get through a whole year without issues. the main reason laptops lose power quickly these days (even my newest used model) is usually because they shut down completely while in sleep mode for extended periods. most people use their laptops normally, but those with frequent deep discharges or irregular sleep habits tend to struggle. if you charge your laptop directly from the wall, it can stress the battery over time. this poses a serious risk for HP’s warranty department, which clearly doesn’t want to handle such problems. additionally, since you’re using a basic HP model, trying to extend battery life by forcing shutdowns before the build quality fails is only a small solution.
