Set your password then press Windows plus L. The device will secure itself and you must enter the password to access it.

Story time brought back memories. I cleaned my sister's laptop of all those internet toolbars and ended up dealing with her frustration over the login password. She thought I was saying she could use it safely, but I was just trying to keep things running smoothly. It’s funny how a simple fix can spark a little drama—especially when you’re supposed to get the job done every couple of weeks.

It's true. The system behaves like a logout yet maintains the active session.

Sure, I noticed that feature on the Start menu shutdown button. It's surprising how often I missed it during my time using Windows.

Using WinXP with the screensaver active showed the message "X processes running." But when downloading, it didn't proceed as expected, so I changed the settings to avoid the screensaver or power-saving mode during downloads.
