Use only what comes built-in with Windows. Access remote help via the Start menu search bar. Type "invite" and you'll see the choice. Click both "easy connect" and she will show a side-by-side view. It's secure, reliable, and functions well on slower connections.

LogmeIn is another solid option, I rely on it to connect to a machine in Dublin, Ireland, while being in Atlanta. Simple configuration.
