You're looking to move files quickly between your PC and laptop. Since your router doesn't support SMB, you'll need an alternative method. Consider using a USB flash drive or cloud storage services that allow direct file transfer without needing network protocols.

Your router isn't involved in the PC-to-laptop transfer beyond establishing the physical link. Just set up a network share on your PC, access it from your laptop, and copy the file. If the file is big, you might also use a USB drive for a quicker move, provided it's a suitable-sized stick.

You don’t require a router for SMB on your network. With Windows, you can create an SMB network share and connect other devices. Make sure to use a strong password and ensure all devices are on the same LAN or network. You won’t need a router to perform SMB over LAN!

Consider using \\<other-machines-ip>\<share-name> in the browser. If this fails, try linking the share via CMD.exe with net use Z: \\computer_name\share_name

You can use a guest account without creating a special user. Just sign in with the guest credentials when needed.

It functions correctly. Appreciate the feedback! The transfer rate is 11 MB/s, which is relatively slow, but I understand.

Connect an Ethernet cable between the devices for improved speed, preferably a gigabit connection. Consider using your hard drives as well.
