He wants to increase his RAM to 32GB. He currently has one 16GB stick, but his current speed is 2800MHz, which isn't up to date. He's considering a 3000MHz model instead. Both options are from G-Skill and have the same CL of 15-15-35. I'm wondering if that's acceptable. On one side, I think it's better to buy RAM in pairs, while on the other side, it might be smarter to downclock the 3000MHz to 2800MHz and still have a good setup.
They should function if they match the same exact RAM, just varying in speed. If not, it's uncertain. However, if it starts up and all 32GB is recognized, the 3000 MHz RAM can be downclocked to 2800 MHz. The 2800 MHz RAM could also be overclocked back up to 3000 MHz.
They will both be G.Skill RipjawsV. Thanks for clarifying, I believe he should go ahead then.
