Both mercy and widow skin come from Ow1. Which ones are you looking for that cost $1,000?

1500 legacy tokens for a top-tier skin—definitely something more. Those numbers used to be 1000 for golds, 500 for purples, and 250 for grey. I hope they change it. It would let newcomers unlock things more easily and give a clearer sense of progression. Before OW2 launched, someone calculated the cost of all OW1 cosmetics for a new player—just over $12,000. Overwatch’s approach to monetization was heavy-handed, but I wish BCA Mercy skin would return. My partner and I both really want that skin and would pay exorbitant prices for it. She’s a dedicated Mercy main and is the only one missing from OWL skins. @Mark Kaine—reminds me there’s a third currency. Overwatch League uses team-specific skins. If you’ve seen Lucio’s emote where he pulls out a full DJ station, that’s an OWL currency emote.

The past times of loot boxesSmile That’s the breast cancer one, isn’t it? I used to try to recall what that skin meant for a while lol. I thought it was a great skin, with the sound effects and all!

figures... well the new ones, like Mercy "Imp"? Those are impressive. Each character seems to have a few of them. And yes, I also noticed they increased the cost of legacy items... and some others as well, I think... the kimono one for D.Va was 1000 before, now it's 1500, maybe that's another legacy piece. I don't mind at all, but the prices are crazy... I can understand why the old system was geared toward big players, but it would be better. You could even convert duplicates into currency? BCA Mercy? Edit: oh, I see, that looks really cool... (also super encouraging to have skins you won't actually get) And yes, you can find them by watching league videos... that's a strange idea, honestly (not saying it's ridiculous). The game is fun, even if it gets chaotic, but the monetization could really hurt its appeal. Plus, there are many issues—balancing, bugs, etc.—and it doesn't feel like much progression at all. There should be more reasons to keep playing. But at least it seems to work for them, attracting both new and existing players (though most probably won't stick around long).

I wouldn't purchase anything right now. Hold off until the next season when new heroes are introduced. Right now, you're just getting skins and voice lines, which I think don't justify spending money.

Oh, new heroes... but wouldn't they finally have their freedom again (after a while)? I think that makes sense, but you should think about it—right now I only have the standard outfits (plus what I got from last season’s pass), so D.Va "officer" and a few others for heroes I don’t even use. Mercy is fun to play with, especially in a good team. It’s tempting to get a few, but grinding would take forever. On the other hand, they’re really costly—1000 or 1500 points for the 'legendaries'... if it was just 1000, I wouldn’t even consider it. I could afford two. I’d be happy with that. The other items don’t interest me much, and you can easily get them from free currency. Same as before, I don’t really need them, but having only the basics feels a bit odd.

If you haven't spent real currency yet, grabbing the $30 starter pack bundle at the next opportunity would make sense. It's equivalent to the price I paid when it was 50% off, so it seems worthwhile. Three seasons of premium access included. Also worth noting are the skins and hero options available this season, especially the Cassidy skin which stands out.

i think i got this but it's called "battle pass"? it was 23.99€ (reduced from 29.99) There's also a starter pack for 9.99... that gives an ok skin for mercy and 1000 Overwatch coins, so basically another skin... Gotta ask again, this is for the 1000 coins battle pass but the premium battle pass (or whatever its called) gives you actual Overwatch coins though? And the "starter pack" also gives you 1000 Overwatch coins + 1 skin + 1 charm (i just checked that, it does say Overwatch coins, same thing you need for the skins)... its not a bad deal, 5 per skin, if this is correct. it sounds way worse at first (10 for one skin and some useless junk ) AAA marketing...

Sure thing, you receive 1000 regular currency from the battle pass (the icon looks circular) and anything else needing purchase will cost premium currency (hexagonal). I prefer bundles because it saves me money—10 bucks for 1000 coins makes sense, so I’ll also grab a free skin. By the way, can these be used to buy legendary skins too?

Absolutely, that makes sense. I noticed this a few times on Reddit too—they claim it's fake premium currency, but the label says "Overwatch coins." It’s about ~2 skins for $10, which is fine. The other one is called "credits," and it seems to only work for regular skins like recolors and poses. I know both are considered valuable, but the way they’re shaped and used is different. You usually get Overwatch coins by spending real money, especially during weekly events, and you can only buy legendary items with them. Credits mainly give you standard skins. That’s what I thought! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Updated: February 18, 2023 by Mark Kaine
