Several hardware monitoring utilities such as CrystalDiskInfo demand it. LibreOffice, web browsers, and common software don’t need elevated privileges. Likely these tools require access to higher-level features (thermal sensors, SMART data) which may need elevation, but outside this scenario none of them should alter the system permanently—no installations or changes are made.
