I strongly recommend scanning with a "virus scanner." Kaspersky provides a free trial of their Total Security.

Do you notice any intrusive pop-ups? Many malicious programs only show alerts from your antivirus software. You might consider testing free versions of Bitdefender or Kaspersky Lab AVs for Mac, both well-reviewed by AV-Test and AV-Comparatives.
