Hi everyone, I'm just starting out and wasn't sure where to ask. If I have a physical Windows copy but didn't add an optical drive to my new PC, how do I install it? My laptop has one. Thanks, Richard

You can obtain a Windows installer on a blank 8GB flash drive and apply the code from your DVD copy.

1. Generate an image of your disc using ImgBurn.
2. Employ Rufus with a sufficiently large flash drive to create a bootable USB.
3. Launch the USB and install Windows from it.
4. Enter the product key from your disc box to activate Windows.
5. Operate using the installed system.

You can simply get the OS image installer from Microsoft, eliminating the need to extract it from the disc.

He didn't mention the operating system, and I doubt Windows 10 is available on discs.

Get it from MS to ensure the newest updates are installed. A disc is likely to be old.

BTW, 8gb is the lowest flash drive capacity, but for 32 and 64 bit Home and Pro editions, you should opt for at least a 32gb drive. This ensures you have a convenient option to reinstall on any desired system.
