You’re looking for a cost-effective solution to connect your racing simulator to your TV and PC. A simple HDMI cable from the basement to the room where your PC is located should work well, especially if you use HDMI over Ethernet for better stability. For the controller input, you can either run a dedicated USB cable from the PC to the controller or set up a USB hub if you need multiple devices. Regarding building a PC with a Pentium D and an AMD 5000 Series GPU, it’s possible but not ideal for streaming; such a setup would likely be more suited for gaming rather than smooth video playback. If you want to stream content, consider using a dedicated streaming PC or a media center with good networking support instead.

Upgrade to a more powerful chip if you plan to stream on Steam; the Pentium D may struggle with the workload.

What type of set top box you have and how it connects via USB are the questions.

The USB connection is what matters, though I’m not sure if it would function well with streaming on a set top box. It seems some drivers are necessary for that kind of use. If that’s the case, a more affordable HTPC might be a better choice. Devices like Roku or Shield are common examples of streaming boxes.

It seems the most affordable option is to simply adjust the PC up and down. Appreciate the ideas!
