Windows comes with several features that don’t always meet expectations. The built-in programs and forced updates can be excessive. Some tools exist to address these problems and streamline tasks without requiring manual effort. However, there are many options available. Are you interested in recommendations for software that meets your needs? I’m seeking something suitable for Windows 11 (and preferably Windows 10). It should eliminate unwanted background apps and bloat, avoid breaking functionality, clearly list what’s removed, stop automatic updates and installs, prevent telemetry data collection, and allow manual control. Ideally, it should pause updates to speed things up and disable tracking features. I’m considering thisiswin11 due to its transparency and open-source nature, though it doesn’t support Windows 10. I’ve also noticed ways to generate custom installation media. Do you have any experience with these tools? Have you used them before, or do you have any concerns? While Linux handles these issues well, I still rely on Windows for certain tasks (I mainly use Linux).

In Windows 10 the debloater functions properly on version 11 according to my observations.

You may delete the applications you wish under Settings > Apps. For mandatory updates, it’s recommended to maintain your operating system, no matter the version or platform. The process doesn’t automatically understand what to remove; no tool can accurately interpret your preferences. Scripts often fail on Windows and may alter functionality unpredictably. It’s wise to clear unused programs via Settings > Apps. The sole exception is Cortana, which is turned off in Windows 11 and cannot be removed through Settings > Apps. You might try uninstalling it via the command line—this will prompt a download and installation, but you’ll need to restart your system afterward. Updates won’t install during Active Hours, which adjust automatically based on usage or can be set manually. Restrictions apply: Windows Update speeds depend on your internet connection. Using a VPN can slow downloads, and a USB 2.0 adapter may limit performance due to its one-way data flow. If you’re connected wirelessly, move nearer the access point or switch to wired for better stability. Many routers handle numerous devices simultaneously; excessive usage can overwhelm them. Consider enabling torrent-style updates if you’re distant from Azure data centers. For more details, refer to Microsoft’s documentation on diagnostic settings and update optimization.

You're looking for an automatic solution to manage download speeds, especially when Windows limits them based on internet connection. It's understandable you want transparency about what the software does to avoid unexpected issues. While Windows can't exceed your internet speed, it often throttles downloads and installs to match available bandwidth. There are tools that can help control or disable this behavior, but you'll need to explore options carefully to ensure they align with your needs.
