After applying all the updates (Vista + SP1 + SP2) on a 60GB drive, I notice only 15GB remains free. Adding an 8GB game and some small files brings it down to just 6GB on the other side. When switching to a 20GB partition and installing Ubuntu 14.04, I still have more space than Vista—maybe it’s just my system. It’s really surprising how much memory Windows uses these days; with 60GB you can run a game using DX11 (wow!) and Linux for everything else, leaving plenty of free space (I really like Ubuntu).

You're installing Vista to enhance your system's performance, security, or compatibility with specific software and applications.

The device includes Vista (which means it's free), and the updates provide DX11 support.

I realize you might have installed Windows Vista by accident.

Sure, I remember when I first got Vista Fresh five years back—it used up about 50 gigabytes of space.

Yeah  I’m still shocked I can only set up one game, even though it felt like a truck hit me. I thought there’d be room for at least four games in the 60GB space, but it’s not working like I expected.

The Windows 8.1 setup seems simple, but it's hard to remember since I've added lots of software.
