all usbs on my device have stopped connecting for a while. I checked uninstalling the USB 3.10 eXtensible driver and reinstalling it, but it kept happening. After a fresh Windows install, it worked briefly before again freezing—keyboard RGB turned off, making it hard to type or use the mouse. It felt much smoother this time, only about two seconds. Someone might help, as I usually resort to wiping my Windows for fixes, but this didn’t seem to work this round. Everything’s in good shape, kept in a cool room with proper airflow, so I suspect it’s a software problem, possibly due to overclocking affecting the USB controller.

This usually means the power supply isn’t delivering enough energy to the USB ports. If you’re okay with that, attempt a live USB installation of something like Linux Mint (it’s quite similar to Windows) to check if the issue repeats. If it does, the problem is hardware-related; if not, it’s likely software-based.

I think I’ll give it a shot, thanks. But why can’t a 750W power supply manage USB devices? I know 750W feels a bit low for a 2080Ti, but it only reaches a maximum of 277W, and my USBs are pretty light—just RGB keyboards, mice, and mousepads that don’t seem to use much bandwidth.

I also attempted to disconnect the USB by using just my keyboard, mouse, and headphones.

You might notice your Bluetooth link disappearing unexpectedly, sometimes without warning. The Bluetooth icon can vanish abruptly, and once it’s gone, you may lose access to other features. Watching videos can still work, but you’ll see a spinning wheel while buffering—does this actually assist?

Consider using a powered USB hub if you have many USB devices. It might resolve the issue even though the 750 should suffice. If it still fails or lacks stable power, try the Linux installation process on a USB drive. Steam is available for Linux to help you test your system under stress.
