My Alfa AWUS1900 is truly outstanding. Since I'm using sli with three slot cards, I don’t have any free PCI-e ports. It’s suggested to get a USB 3.0 network adapter with external antennas—at least two external antennas would work well.

It doesn't apply a specific setting at a particular moment. What's happening is that when connected to 2.4, usage increases during the evening. Turning it off improves performance overall.
