Powerline adapters aren't reliable in every home. The issue often lies with the wiring quality. Without heavy devices like refrigerators on the circuit, performance drops. Crossing phases can cause problems. Speeds differ even if they claim gigabit capability. Check that the adapters actually have gigabit ports; otherwise, advertised speeds won't match real-world results.

Similar to WiFi, Gigabit adapters don’t always deliver true gigabit speeds in real life. It’s wise to purchase more powerful devices than you assume necessary, since some may still only support Gigabit connections.

Sure, I understood you were expecting suggestions for upgrading to a faster device to reach higher speeds.

I rely on Netgear powerline adapters (pl1000) and even though they don’t reach the promised speeds, the link has stayed consistent and dependable. This depends heavily on your home wiring. I’ve tried it for online gaming and the connection performed adequately. Latency roughly doubles for me, but it was still fine.

Devolo is a product listed on Amazon. The alternative option comes from TP-Link.
