Hello !! I’m using this flash drive (2.0, 8GB) mainly for Flashback/QFlash- Plus and it’s performing well after three updates. The USB stick is about 15 years old, and I’m unsure how long it will last. In the past five to ten years I haven’t used it much, but I’ve done several full format operations. I came across a Japanese-made stick that looks promising. Will it work with Flashback? Or might I end up wasting my money? I’m aware that this BIOS update process is quite strict about USB drives. PS. If I decide to buy the Kioxia model later, can I re-flash the same BIOS version just to test compatibility? Since I already have the latest stable release, I’m curious. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 rev. 1.0.
The Lexar 2.0 8gb USB stick is suitable for BIOS updates. Performance isn't crucial. As long as it's recognized in Windows and you can transfer files to it using the fat32 format, it should function properly. Age doesn't matter—what matters is functionality.
Thanks for your reply! As mentioned in my earlier message, I've already tried the lexar three times using QFlash-Plus and everything worked perfectly. My main concern is how long the USB stick will last—while it could last another 15 years, I'm not entirely sure. That's why I thought about purchasing a new one.
I own two SanDisk Ultra drives (not compatible) and on the front panel the USB ports don’t align properly and the windows often fail to detect them unless I gently shift them with a finger. On the back side of the motherboard they fit securely, but I prefer not to expose them.
