I noticed this concern before assuming it was related to the HDD. It seems the issue might lie with Windows itself. When I plug my USB 3 HDD into the USB 3 port, it works fine and runs properly, but in Device Manager it shows as if it can't use USB 3 ports at all. I checked the device manager and found no problems. After reinstalling the USB 3 controller, nothing changed. Anyone else have encountered this after upgrading to Windows 8.1?

Have you tested the external HDD on a different USB3-compatible computer?

I don't believe it's related to the HDD. I also tested my phone Note 3, and it showed the same issue: "this device can perform faster on USB 3."

I’m sure the problem I caused with the USB 3 driver is real. Many others have reported similar issues, and there seems to be no solution. You’re right—this isn’t working.
