I own a dual-boot MacOS and Windows setup, and I recently acquired a new monitor—a Lenovo Y27G. Despite being labeled as low value, I purchased it when the price fell to half its MSRP. It comes with a 3-port USB 3.0 hub, which is impressive. I connected my mouse, keyboard, and webcam and was eager to use it. I started it up and shouted, "Let's gooooo!" but it crashed after just 20 seconds. I suspect the issue might be related to MacOS having a limit on USB ports, possibly linked to the USB 3.1 standard. The 3.0 port functions perfectly. I’m trying to fix it since it works fine in Windows, so I think the problem is software-related. I’ve attached the crash report and updated my notes. Also, the crash only happened when the hub was plugged in during startup, whether devices were connected or not. MacOS USB Hub Crash Report.rtf EDIT 2: It seems the problem was with the specific USB port it was using. MacOS might have a conflict with USB 3.1. The 3.0 port is unaffected. Case closed, though I’m curious about the reason. Maybe someone can help clarify... Edited August 30, 2018 by evanfisha Attached crash report, updated criteria, posted solution

I understand my approach, though I’m not perfect. MacOS performs well in most areas except this one. I reached out to the forum to find solutions for the issue I’m facing. If you’re feeling awkward about the Apple theme, know that I’m more comfortable with Windows. I set up a dual-boot system because I enjoy experimenting.
