my usb 2.0 functions properly but the usb 3.0 front panel supplies power to my phone yet it displays a malfunction and unrecognized status. I own this motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...id=5294#ov and this case: http://www.deepcool.com/product/case/201..._840.shtml

It might be the port issue. Could you test a rear USB 3.0 connection? With USB 3.0, controllers can be selective about devices, and some may reject certain ones. I own a USB 3.0 stick and a wireless mouse adapter that aren't working properly here, even though they function elsewhere. A driver update might help.
